Hello everyone, welcome back to Rafter 3 Horse development. Today we have a very special short article from Makala about biblical truths regarding prayer and inquiring of God to bless us.

 

I want to talk about prayer and the fear people may have to ask for wealth, health, and blessings from the Lord because of a sense of guilt/greed. This comes from not being taught that prayer isn’t just asking and waiting around for your answered prayer to just fall out of heaven and land in your lap. 

 

Being proactive in your request is the only way it works. When you ask of Him to give you the desires of your heart you must first take a moment to stop, search, and seek Elohim in His wholeness, as we see in Jeremiah 29:13 “and you shall seek me, and shall find me, when you search for me with all your heart.” 

 

And again in Deuteronomy 4:29 He tells us how to use our heart “But from there you shall seek YHWH, your Elohim, and shall find Him with all your heart and with all your being.” 

 

Now that we have an idea of what our heart is for let’s see what YHWH looks for in it. 

 

He mentions in Duet. 8:2 “And you shall remember that YHWH, your Elohim led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness to humble you, prove you, to know what is in your heart, whether you guard His commands or not.” 

 

You must examine your heart and it’s true desires before you ask of Him. 

This is a commonly heard verse that on its own seems to imply we only need to ask and we will receive.

 

James 4:2 “you do not possess because you do not ask.” 

But if we dig deeper and read from James 4:1-6  we see there are guidelines to asking something of the Lord. 

He tells us what “asking wrongly” looks like in verse 3, “You ask and do not receive because you ask evilly, in order to spend it on your pleasures.”

 

What are these evil pleasures mentioned? 

 

He goes on to explain in verse 4 “Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with Elohim? Whoever, therefore, intends to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of Elohim.”

 

He tells us very plainly here you can’t be of the world and of Him. 

 

Your heart cannot be seeking the pleasures of the world while you pray to the Lord to fulfill the desires of your heart. 

 

Just this far it’s apparent that prayers are heard after much work has been put into the examination of the heart, diligent seeking of Elohim, and removal of ourselves from the world. 

 

Verse 5 challenges us to examine the spirit in which we operate where he asks us “Or do you think that the scripture speaks no purpose? Does the spirit which dwells in us intensely crave unto envy?”

 

Are you looking at your Instagram and wishing your life was as great as these influencers with nice cars big houses and fancy clothes? 

 

Do you feel jealous, are you angry because your life isn’t as glamorous? 

 

This is not the spirit in which the Lord wishes you to operate in. 

 

He resists this spirit and we read this in verse 6 “But He gives great favor. Because of this He says, “Elohim resists the proud, but gives favour to the humble.” 

 

This is reiterated in proverbs 3:34 “He certainly scoffs the scoffers, But gives favor to the humble.”

 

So when do we see our prayers answered?

James 4:10 says “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Master, and He shall lift you up.”

 

Once you have prayed the prayer with a humble heart after YHWH’s own heart and found yourself operating in the Holy Spirit then you have more work to do!

Now you have to be looking for the open doors, and opportunities Elohim is going to put before you. 

You have to walk through the door grab that opportunity and work your butt off to accomplish what it is you’re asking for. Then you have will have to work to keep that success, that business, your health, your job. 

 

I love what Makala wrote, because as believers we have a duty, a job really, to seek out and search what God wants for us. This includes studying our bibles, spending time in prayer, and ensuring that we are living our the truths of the Bible in our lives so that we may be lights set on a hill to those around us. When our heart align with the will of our Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ, our prayers will begin to shape themselves around the desires of God. Our desires BECOME His. What an amazing blessing and hope we have!
